We use ThoughtSpot as a central piece of our analytics platform. It houses a large majority of our internal and external reporting. It covers a pretty large scope and solves numerous business problems for us, including ad hoc reporting, embedded reporting, internal reporting, external reporting etc. We also leverage RLS to limit external reporting.
  • Reporting development is pretty simple
  • RLS
  • Visualizations are pretty clean for the most part.
  • Objects are not able to be referenced across
  • Lacks the ability to put reports in directories. There's no sense of organization
  • Reporting can be very buggy sometimes
  • Can't limit peoples ability to create as many reports as they want.
I think that if a company is looking to roll out a suite of reporting more centrally focused on ad hoc reporting and not necessarily looking to lock down their environment and report creation to strictly and internal analytics or BI team, ThoughtSpot fits that use case. Anything that needs more structure/limitation is not right for ThoughtSpot.

ThoughtSpot allows us to create liveboards that are fast processing when it comes to large datasets. We are able to do live data connections that give us the scalability to find insights that ultimately guide us in strategic management of our data whether it is engineering, marketing, product, etc. This serves a wide array of use cases on whether this is strategy-focused or product-focused.
  • Data connections with live data sources
  • Customer support with chat
  • Ease of use with visual charts
  • formulas are not intuitive
  • need to have totals and percentages into one chart
  • use spotIQ within the liveboards

It is our main BI tool. We use it to give our business users access to all kinds of data.
  • Makes it really easy for nontechnical users to access data.
  • Data models are more complex than other tools.
  • Missing niche features (like table calculations).
It is excellent if you want to give access to a tool to many people who aren't BI experts. We removed our BI teams as a dependency for most users to build out reports and access data. From an admin perspective, there are a handful of frustrations, but we can get over those. I would recommend a more advanced tool like Looker or Tableau if you want very advanced customization options and to build feature-packed dashboards.

I use Thoughtspot to enable self-serve analytics on pharmaceutical data.
Thouhtspot's USP is its ease of use for the end users and they get answers from their data in just a few clicks.
Plus, with the introduction of Thoughtspot sage, the Gen AI capabilities provides users with NLP capabilites on their data - which is great for business and HQ users (who are not so tech savvy).
Lastly, feature like SpotIQ provide users with automated analysis and insights on their data - which otherwise would have required some manual intervention from a technical user.
  • Ease of Use
  • Very Fast Querying on even huge datasets
  • Strong data modelling features
  • Customizability of the visualization/liveboards
  • Addition of support for more data warehouse systems
  • Option of creating data extracts
Thoughtspot is great for promoting data democracy to the end users (primarily business users).
It enables them to build simple visualizations and pin multiple of them together on a liveboard just by entering their queries in simple natural language.
But, for building more complex visualizations, Thoughtspot lags behind other (older) BI tools in the market - as it has relatively limited customizability options for visualizations as of now.

we are using ThoughtSpot as a self service BI platform where we want our business users to create their own insights and deep dive into the data themselves and as a whole become more data driven company.
  • Generate great insights using spot IQ
  • needs very less technical knowledge so even an agent level employee can use it to generate insights
  • slice and dice data to whatever granular level is needed without creating any explicit hierarchies
  • more pixel perfect dashboarding
  • more option as compared to existing BI tools when it comes to look and feel
for any use case where you users needs immediate or frequent insights from the data.
since license is not at user level so if you need to open data to large employee base

In my organization we use ThoughtSpot to create management dashboards and reports. They include financial- and non financial KPI's.
This product improved the quality of our reports and dashboards. It's flexible and easy to use.
The main problem that we had with other software was the fact that we have multiple sources/databases. ThoughtSpot is able to link them al together but is still easy to use. Great product and easy to use.
  • Combine multiple sources / databases
  • Click and play / drag and drop -> ease to use
  • Cloud based so always available
  • Possible to work at the same time with multiple users
  • Quick and easy learning
  • More training video's for beginners
  • Example or standard reports to show what's possible
[ThoughtSpot is] easy to use. Lot's of possible thing you can do.
No problems combining multiple sources and/or databases.
Great performance.
Nice way to create dashboard and reports. Can handle both financial- and non financial KPI's.
This makes it possible to great the best reports for management and own use.
Cloud based product so always available.

Our no-code AI platform turns unstructured data into structured content to enhance existing models, products, and BI. The current BI tools all lack certain features and ThoughtSpot was the perfect choice to embed within our product. The output from our platform, when visualized with ThoughtSpot is seen very clearly, resonates with our customers, and gives them flexibility into customizing if they so choose. The additional features & querying functionality in ThoughtSpot make it easy to navigate through our data and create visuals that answer the questions a user asks.
  • Beautiful visualizations. The visuals are distinct, clean, and easy to discern from one another.
  • Intelligent querying functionality. When looking to manipulate the data, the search function makes it easy to manipulate the features in the data, along with aggregating them in the way you'd like.
  • Embedding! It has been a smooth process thus far for our product & technical teams to work with ThoughtSpot and bring it into our product.
  • Drill down in a dashboard could be improved, with the ability to click around the various visuals to then filter down the entire dashboard (i.e., click on a date and all visuals reflect data from that date).
  • For some of the visuals, additional color representation would be nice in some cases. When working with the sentiment, sometimes a green to red gradient is desired by an end-user.
ThoughtSpot is well suited for: Embedding use cases Working with large volumes of data (>TBs) Use cases that involve lots of questions from an end-user, the search querying, and SpotIQ helps out here ThoughtSpot is not well suited for: Use cases that want an easier drill down/filtering with the visuals Users who want a word cloud of any kind.

ThoughtSpot is used to visualize outputs from NLP/AI use cases for our client. It helps to visualize output and show various trends to help clients make decisions with investment research, credit risk, ESG insights, and so on.
  • Clean UI, I like the UI as it looks very clean and modern.
  • Filters, ability to create custom filers and explore data underlying in tables.
  • It would be great if ThoughtSpot can add the feature to filter by clicking on visualizations. i.e if I click on a particular data point in the chart if the full dashboard can filter just for that particular data point.
  • Color coding the heatmap with different colors like green to orange to red.
Well suited for my clients for a Macro view of business insights, credit risk, ESG insights, etc. However, I think ThoughtSpot needs to make exploring underlying data easier, adding a feature where you can click on charts and filters will help users and especially business users to easily understand the granularities as well.

ThoughtSpot is a very important data analysis software for our company and department that has been used because it has been collaborating in deep and accurate analysis based on different graphs, databases, tables, and illustrative panels for business decision making. We have already had experience with several types of software of this type, but the ThoughtSpot software is the one that has more assertiveness in facts. Its level of customization is greatly improved in the interface and brings better quality in the presentation of results and reports. Technical support is another strong point because it has a fast and punctual service in solving the problem or question.
  • User-friendly and customizable interface.
  • Function to create personalized reports and rich in details of the analyzed data.
  • Very fast and accurate in the content filter.
  • Smart dashboard, graphs and tables to illustrate the information to the analyst.
  • Real time analysis.
  • Graphs are excellent ways of visualizing the data, but I feel like there are very few options available in terms of choice. It can be improved.
  • It's complex for beginners. Training or intensive is required to learn all the features and get the most out of the software.
It is a cloud software with great BI analysis and artificial intelligence capabilities and excellent real-time data analysis capabilities in graphs and dashboards and data export in reports. We recommend it to anyone interested in this kind of intelligent and accurate information analysis technology that can aid decision-making, business, and development. The insights we use are always reliable and help us every day. I recommend technical support because they always helped us to clear doubts about the software and features.

We embedded ThoughSpot into our AI no-code platform to enhance the BI function of our product.
  • Easy to use UI
  • Wide selections of visualizations
  • Embrace Connector
  • Drill down filter/ability to apply a filter to pinboard by clicking directly on the visualizations
  • Lack of color customization
  • More charts size options/ability to customize the charts size and shape
We selected ThoughtSpot because it's easy to embed into our platform. Also, features like SpotIQ are exciting and useful for our clients to analyze our data.

Mainly used to cater reporting needs to our external vendors. In our current scenario, we were not able to share our reporting with our vendors due to our security reasons and protocols. So, as an option to venture into other tools, we choose Thoughtspot.
  • Speed
  • Search Option
  • Business user friendly
  • AI powered tool
  • Quick TMT
  • Limitation on visualizations
  • Graph - Chart options
  • Colour changes options / Formatings Improvements
  • Answer arrangement options on Pinboard
Well suited in:
- Sharing information where multiple departments are involved.
- Quick turn-around is required.
- Where more business analysts are involved.

Not suited for:
- IT based infrastructure
- Pinboards requiring complex formatting

We are trying to build the overall analytics in ThoughtSpot with different metrics and use cases. The purpose we bought in ThoughtSpot is to give access to external users for a better understanding of the reporting point. But we see there are a lot of limitations with the product where the analyst finds it difficult to show the pinboard as he wants to.
  • Its very fast in retrieving data
  • data model creation seems to be easy handled
  • search option is great
  • Need more vizualizations
  • Limitations in lot of cosmetic changes like font ,color etc
  • Drill down function have to be improved
Overall the product is very much fast and AI features are interesting. But need a lot of improvements as such in the product development, enable more options for cosmetic changes. Limitations in the pinboard need to be addressed like selector placement, rearranging the filters, more options for sizing of the answers in the pinboard.

We are utilizing ThoughtSpot to gain additional insight into our customer's characteristics and behaviors. ThoughtSpot is currently being used across our organization to help keep all employees educated on how our customers act, what our most popular items/pages are, looking at trends, etc. It's been a great tool thus far.
  • ThoughtSpot provides the ease of creating reports based on the metrics you're looking for.
  • I personally like how you can have a report template and then easily add new columns to your report based on your KPI's.
  • I like how you can add visual graphs to the pinboard and it's not just the data, but I also like that you can export the data into excel so you or your customer can manipulate the data to achieve the look and feel you're looking for.
  • There's not really anything that I don't like. In fact, I wish I had more access to the backend features (and not just our engineering team), so I could create even more reports.
Based on my personal use case and the access that I have, I would recommend ThoughtSpot. One of the advantages, besides the obvious, is I like how you can share your pinboard with other members of the company. This way you're not having to re-create the wheel every time a different user wants the same report, and then that user can even customize the report to exactly what they're looking for.

We are using the ThoughtSpot embedded product to build out our B2B marketing revenue attribution product called Cortex.
  • Embedding reports into a multi tenant SaaS product
  • Creating custom dashboards
  • Data exploration via natural search
  • Ability to build a single dashboard tile containing the main value, a sparkline, and a percent change over time
  • Easy way to build a user experience that allows for selecting different metrics to trend from a drop-down on a multi-axis graph
If you are building an embedded app, ThoughtSpot is a great solution. If you are looking for all of the nuanced BI features that you see in more mature BI tools, make sure ThoughtSpot has the features you need.

We are in the process of rolling out ThoughtSpot across the organization. This tool addresses the evaluation of different use cases across the different CRE business lines. The business can quickly connect to data and gain insights that are specific to their use cases ie space across a portfolio, spend across services, trends, etc.
  • Ease of use for non-technical users
  • Provides quick insights
  • Ease of use to connect to data
  • Custom reporting capabilities for application usage for clients to develop
  • Content management to group or assign content by different entities
ThoughtSpot is great for any user group that wants to quickly flush out quick questions to specific use cases.

ThoughtSpot is currently being used by my department and not the whole organization. I work for an insurance client and am responsible for data analytics and visualization. Graphs and other visualizations provide a clearer understanding of what the data says and this is where ThoughtSpot comes in. My clients are trying to move completely to ThoughtSpot for any visualization requirements.
  • ThoughtSpot is great at using artificial intelligence to give some automated insights from data.
  • ThoughtSpot allows you to source data from multiple data stores like Redshift, Excel, etc.
  • Querying on ThoughtSpot is super easy.
  • It provides a wide variety of visualization.
  • Since ThoughtSpot is not widely used, there are very few tutorials.
  • ThoughtSpot needs to include a lot more customization in their visualizations.
  • Sometimes, ThoughtSpot is buggy and clients need to contact their support to resolve issues.
ThoughtSpot is by far the best BI tool for business users who are not that tech-savvy. Since querying is super easy and very intuitive, users can get insights in no time. It also supports natural language processing for querying data which takes it a step ahead of other tools. Since ThoughtSpot only charges you based on the storage you use, it helps reduce costs as well. ThoughtSpot lags behind when a user requires a lot of customization in their visualizations. It also does not have a free version for users to try and see for themselves.

ThoughtSpot is being used across multiple departments in the company. In our department, we are using it for transactional data analytics, for example, what was the revenue of a partner in a certain period of time for a certain business unit or product.
  • Integration with Snowflake
  • On-the-fly analytics
  • Easy to use
  • Limited visualization charts options
  • Look & feel of the charts (limited customization options, like colors, etc.)
  • Performance on large data sets
Well suited for simple data queries or analysis. Not suited for complex analysis or dashboards. ThoughtSpot works well with Snowflake and it's great to be able to do analytics directly on the cloud data warehouse. However, for complex data sets and analytics, ThoughtSpot is not there yet from a performance and look & feel perspective.

We use ThoughtSpot throughout our company. The ease of use and the accessibility make it a prime tool for quick research and verification. I work in our Compliance department and I use the tool every day for research. We also have several pinboards setup for quick metrics into several of our more important processes. Each time a new product is released we go to ThoughtSpot to create boards for review.
  • Ease of access to company data
  • Easy to create and manage pinboards
  • I can pull data at any moment for any questions from leaders
  • I can review and understand trends and build easy to read reports
  • It could be easier to create new worksheets using views
  • They removed the ability to have hyperlinks work inside of the search. I use to use hyperlinks in my pinboards but they are no longer clickable.
I was charged with the task of creating a pinboard for a project our company was taking on. [Using ThoughtSpot,] I was able to put together the pinboard in a very short period of time and over the 9 months of the project I was able to use that same pinboard for all of our reporting. We did add additional insights throughout the project by having this simple tool to do the building we were able to rely on the data everyday.

It's used across the whole organization. It's been useful for addressing the big amount of queries we receive on a daily basis, as the platform is user-friendly and you can direct people that normally wouldn't run a report in a ERP.
  • Intuitive platform, easy to learn how to use it.
  • Lots of charts possibilities, and presentation mode saves you hours doing PowerPoint presentations.
  • It's quite easy to upload a new database to analyse different datasets.
  • There's still some work to be done in presentation mode.
  • The tool could be a bit faster.
It's really good for seeing live information, doing quick analysis or graphs without the need of Excel, as this will be dynamic and you won't need to update them every time. It's less useful if you want to download a big set of information for then modelling it into Excel (i.e. large financial models).

ThoughtSpot is used widely by organization--roughly 300 active users. It allows users to analyze their data without having to rely on a data analyst. By having a true data democracy, all of our users are able to get the data to make well-informed decisions on their own.
  • Self-service data analytics
  • Easily search your data using natural language processing
  • Ease of use
  • Pixel-perfect charting
  • Better documentation
  • Easier to be picked up by a new user
Some scenarios where ThoughtSpot is well suited:
  1. If a user is data savvy and needs to get a quick number to answer a question
  2. If a user needs to do simple data exploration
  3. If a user needs to refresh a static dashboard on a regular basis.
Some scenarios where ThoughtSpot is less suited:

ThoughtSpot is available across the organization. Some functions have taken a larger leap in self-service analytics with ThoughtSpot. It helps us with reducing cost and improving efficiency.
  • Analysis comes more naturally in ThoughtSpot than in other tools through NLP.
  • It ties in very well and effortlessly with our fiscal calendar and makes time series analysis by fiscal dates very efficient.
  • Auto ML (Spot IQ) is able to uncover insights that encourage users to dive into areas that they would have not known otherwise.
  • Visualization options and graphics colors can be improved.
  • Deeper analysis with "growth of" has a lot of untapped potential.
  • Administration processes (upgrades, patches, migrations, etc.) can be better.
  • Self-service analysis using NLP and time keywords (last month, year to date) for off-calendar fiscal periods is phenomenal.
  • Gives the business users a large productivity boost by reducing the build time for self-service analysis.
  • Spot IQ encourages us to look in places that were not on our radar in the past.

We use ThoughtSpot to supplement Tableau in sales analytics and marketing teams. It is used for quick data access and analytics.
  • It's fast, and easy to use for non technical users.
  • Alternative non-specialist search based analytics tools are all too young to be useful.
  • There are no per user fees, so it's possible to democratise access to key data.
  • Loading data can be slow.
  • Total storage is generally limited by RAM, which makes space relatively expensive (Snowflake connector has potential to mitigate this for some users).
  • Cloud option is expensive.
Where you have data literate users without the technical skills to write SQL, or where there are many small questions being asked of data where SQL is more cumbersome. Simpler data sets, focused on topics work best.

ThoughtSpot is our data warehouse linked to our application for daily use by end-users as well as internally by al areas of the company. It is used for a variety of reporting (sales, inventory, billing) as well as for developing projections. The data warehouse we have developed is quite extensive.
  • Excellent natural language
  • Good, clean UI
  • Highly performant
  • Ongoing functional support could be improved
  • Quicker reaction to patch / bug fixes
  • Increase in self-service day to day system maintenance
ThoughtSpot is an excellent product for deploying as an off the shelf data analysis tool. Its development of natural query language gives software companies the flexibility and options to both internally develop standard usage reports, graphs, data analysis while also giving any day to day user of the product the capability to develop their own ad hoc reporting.

We rolled out the tool throughout merch organization first and it allowed for ease of use and access to most granular information. That allows for quicker decision making, as well as needed customization for end-users. While we started with roll out to merch first, we ended up implementing the tool with supply chain, branding, marketing, procurement, etc. All to great success and high adoption rate.
  • Ad hoc searches
  • Custom functions such as top 10, vs, quarter to date, etc.
  • Ability to combine tabular representation of info and visuals
  • Ease of formula creation
  • More custom visuals
If you are looking for a picture perfect copy of an existing report and visual, this may not be the tool for you. You can recreate visuals but they may not look the same.
The strength of the ThoughtSpot tool is its search and ability to do quick data pull or quick analysis on the fly.

Our organization has had the ThoughtSpot appliance on-prem for about a year. ThoughtSpot hosted a workshop with each division within our organization to establish viable proof of concepts (POCs). Through the workshop, we were able to rank the POC options and then execute an SOW for our most viable option. By the time the SOW was completed, that particular division was "all-in" with the application. It has been extremely helpful for the division in answering questions using the data we already have within our databases. We think of ThoughtSpot as a compliment to Tableau. Tableau does beautiful things with visualizations, but it can only answer specific questions as the designer created it. With Tableau, we can drill down as the answers create more questions without having to continue to recreate new dashboards. That has been the most helpful aspect of the application for our users. Since the first POC was so successful, we engaged ThoughtSpot for a second POC/SOW with a different division that we felt would be the most challenging. We completed that second POC even more smoothly than the first. If we can implement ThoughtSpot in our most challenging division within the organization, then we can use it anywhere.
  • Ability to drill down into questions on the fly.
  • Easy-to-read pinboards for non-technical executives, including natural language questions.
  • Ability to join multiple databases so data can be analyzed across the organization.
  • SpotIQ: showing us insights to our data that we didn't even think to ask about.
  • The visualizations aren't quite as clean as other leaders in the viz space.
  • Difficult to customize the visualizations.
  • The application is still in its younger years and still needs more time to be fully developed.
The most impressive part about ThoughtSpot is the people. Every ThoughtSpot employee that we have encountered has been incredibly helpful and genuine in their desire to help us make the most of the application. They weren't just there to sell us a product and then leave us to our own devices. They truly want to make sure that we are successful in our implementation and that we are getting the most out of the application. Their implementation process is super clean and they maximized the time with our engineers to ensure that our infrastructure was best suited for the appliance. And while they would prefer to work in the cloud, they understood our desire to be on-prem and knew exactly how to work with hour specific architectural structure. They trained our team so well in how the appliance works that we were able to handle the next implementation with little support from the ThoughtSpot engineers. Yet, they always made themselves available to us when we got stuck on something.
